Katelyn Brinkman gave birth to her third son naturally in her Mayville, North Dakota home with the assistance of her midwife, Rebekah Knapp on August 6, 2012.
Midwifery is illegal in 11 states and is currently unregulated in North Dakota.
Between 2004 and 2009, the number of women choosing home births over hospital births increased by 29 percent.
Including Rebekah Knapp, there are only four midwives that serve the entire state of North Dakota.
